I went into the hospital at 7:00 a.m. on May 24th to be induced. They got me started on the cytotec, which is supposed to soften my cervix. Bryce and I just hung out and watched movies for a little bit because nothing exciting was happening. My mom came to keep me company for a little bit and also Mandy stopped by. At around 4:00 Dave came to the hospital and took Bryce out to dinner. About an hour after they left I started to feel the contractions coming on strong. I called Bryce and told him to hurry back because I was in a lot of pain. The nurse that I had was NOT very sympathetic. Yes, I know I am a huge baby when it comes to pain, but she was horrible! I kept telling her I needed something for the pain, but she said I couldn't have anything until I was dilated to at least a 2. My mom and my sister Tara came to the hospital to help out. I don't know what I would have done without them! I had pretty painful contractions for a few hours with no pain meds until FINALLY Dr Pead came in and broke my water. He said I was dilated to a 3 or 4 and I could have my epidural. I was so relieved! It took about 30 minutes for the anesthesiologist to get there and then he had to stick me three different times before the epidural finally kicked in. I was dilated to a 7 before it started working at 11:00 p.m. I was so exhausted I fell asleep for about an hour or so until Dr. Pead came in and said I needed to start pushing. I pushed through about 5 or 6 contractions and then she arrived at 12:57 a.m.
Here is proud Daddy with Lily just after she was born. |
My mom and dad came to the hospital that night to see her. My mom made me a sandwich because I hadn't been able to eat anything that entire time. It was the best thing I had ever tasted in my entire life! And it wasn't anything special, that tells you how extremely hungry I was. They were so sweet to come and visit because it was 2:00 in the morning.
I stayed in the hospital for 2 days and we had lots of visitors that wanted to see the sweet new baby.
