The Wind Storm December 1, 2011

I think December 1st will be remembered for a long time, or at least I will remember. We did not sleep at all the night before because of all the wind, and also because we took Lily in for her shots and she was up all night screaming. It was definitely a rough night, but we were still shocked in the morning when our back yard looked like this...

Our grill had tipped over, we had branches all over our yard and we even had some branches sticking out of our siding that Bryce had to go pull out. They left a bunch of holes in our siding and also some of our shingles had been ripped up. Needless to say, our damage was fairly minimal.

The power went out early that morning so our house was FREEZING. Bryce piled like 6 blankets on top of me and I was still cold. I was able to get a little nap in while Lily was sleeping. Bryce went out to help with the cleanup and Mandy came over to my house to talk and make sure we were alright. Lily was sleeping in her room, and Mandy and I were in the living room talking when all of the sudden we heard a huge gust of wind. We looked into the back window and saw a bunch of stuff flying at our house, and then we saw our neighbors shed lift off the ground and come toward our house. We hit the floor because we were sure it was coming through our window, but it didn't. We ran into Lily's room to make sure she was alright. She was fine and smiling of course. I went outside to see the damage and this is what I saw...

The shed tipped over our fence and all of the wood came flying at our house. The roof was lifted up and landed in the middle of our yard. All of the wood tore apart our siding and even hit the back of Bryce's truck. Luckily, it only damaged his tail lights. Bryce was still gone, so I took a bunch of pictures and talked to our neighbors about what we should do. When Bryce came home, I took Lily over to Tara's house because they still had power and we had a sleep over. It was incredible to watch the news and see all of the damage that had been done. So many trees had been tipped over, shingles ripped off houses, fences tipped over and it was so sad to see all of the people who had damage done to their homes. Needless to say, this day will be remembered for a very long time.
